Kjersti began her healthcare career as a PTA for nearly a decade, specializing in hands-on-healing modalities focused on soothing the nerves, fascia, muscles and lymphatic systems. She also continued her education in functional movements, postural and balance training, yoga and meditation, mat Pilates for rehabilitation and breathwork. Her fascination for how the mind and body function, repair and heal is an asset to clients looking for pain or stress relief! Each massage, bodywork, energy-work session or yoga class is tailored to create a healing experience unique to you and your own health goals! Her passion also fuels her continued education. This year she will be taking several trips to Connecticut to mentor at Naughty Shaman: Dharma School: Human Development of the Soul. A modern approach to energy medicine, via Peruvian Shamanic practices and ontological/transpersonal coaching, to help clients navigate life changes and all the emotional experiences and transitions that can energetically impact the physical body. She will also be attending a class in the fall called Spontaneous Muscle Release Technique: SMRT to enhance her hands-on healing skillset and toolbox for helping clients find pain relief.
With over a decade experience in healing touch and therapeutic interventions she has developed a knack for helping folks with back pain, joint pain or dysfunction (including arthritic conditions), TMJ, neck and shoulder issues, headaches and migraines, low back, hip and knee issues, plantar fascitis/foot pain, neuropathy, repetitive-use or sports injuries, pre/post surgical swelling (medical and cosmetic), Women's Health issues, and pre/post natal massage/bodywork.
In 2014, Kjersti earned her yoga teacher certificate and began teaching yoga classes for healthy backs at a local Michigan studio. Nearly ten years later, and she continues to share her resources and experiential knowledge to the benefit of her community. Teaching thousands of yoga classes from beginner style Gentle for Healthy Backs, and signature Meridian Yin, to advanced Pranayama and Vinyasa classes. She has taught all over Michigan at Skilled Nursing Facilities (Chair Yoga), Physical Therapy clinics, local Yoga studios, private beaches, schools and festivals and events! She now offers her classes primarily in the Greater Lansing Area!
When Kjersti isn't working, she likes growing fresh vegetable/herb gardens at home, kayaking the river and spotting eagles and other wildlife, travelling, trying new cooking recipes, walking/hiking in nature with friends, spending the day at the Great Lakes beaches, reading a book by a fireplace, and jamming out to good tunes with her daughter. Together Kjersti and her husband and best friend, Steve are raising a blended family of four plus their two cats Waffles and Jack.
Bowenwork is Kjersti's absolute favorite healing modality. She used to say Bowen is to massage as Yoga is to exercise. Since earning her certification in Bowenwork in 2014 she has personally used it to heal her sciatica, injured tailbone with severe bruising to both legs, menstrual symptoms/pain, musculoskeletal dysfunctions, nerve pain/fibromyalgia, TMJ dysfunction and digestive issues. She has seen it have great affect on kids and elderly, as it is gentle, precise, and can be done through clothing, as well as with athletes and persons in manual labor/trades who are more prone to repetitive stress injuries. Because of it's gentle precise nature it is also a great option for people suffering from trauma, fibromyalgia, burnout, or moms who need the bodywork but often feel overstimulated by the amount of touch in a typical massage style session.
