In general we recommend having a healthy snack, water bottle, Yoga or exercise mat, appropriate walking shoes (for walking groups), and comfortable clothes to move in. Props are provided in class, although you are welcome to bring your own.
A gentle, precise, hands on, osteopathic, bodywork. Different from massage in that there is no oil or lotion used, and it can be done with clothes on or off (**sheets are always provided when clothing is off, the client is always draped appropriately same as in a massage), " rolling moves" are done at specific points in the body similarly to acupressure points instead of long flowing strokes like used in Swedish massage. Clients generally report feeling relaxed or rejuvenated afterwards.
In Traditional Bowenwork, pauses between sets of moves offer the mind and body a chance to communicate and correct tension patterns without being interrupted. This "wait time" is part of what sets Bowenwork apart from other manual therapies like massage, as it gives the body much needed time to integrate and recalibrate itself.
Energywork varies based on the practitioner and their skillset/training. It may involve the use of feathers, sound bowls, crystals, guided visualization/meditation, or gentle hand movements. Generally sessions begin with an intake, and then the client lays on the table (like in a massage but with clothes on) while the practitioner uses their hands and senses to rebalance energy centers and pathways. Afterwards clients report feeling balanced, grounded, lighter, or more clear.
